Question 1

What makes a prank link harmless?

Accepted Answer

Three things, and all three are testable. The destination is a real page you would be comfortable sending to a stranger. Nothing between the click and the destination asks for a password, a payment detail, or a download. And the recipient sees the exact destination domain on a review page before they continue, so the joke ends in a laugh rather than in a mistake.

Question 2

Does a harmless prank link ever show a survey or a download prompt?

Accepted Answer

No. The preview page shows the destination domain, a short review countdown, and a confirmation button. Nothing else is inserted between the click and the destination — there is no survey wall, no fake download prompt, no software update notice, and no hand-off to a third-party page.

Question 3

How long does a harmless prank link stay active?

Accepted Answer

Every generated link maps to a temporary code that expires automatically after 24 hours and is purged from our database. After that the link stops resolving and shows the expired-link page instead. An old prank link therefore cannot resurface weeks later and surprise someone who has forgotten about it.

Question 4

Can I use a harmless prank link for a workplace awareness demo?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and that is one of the intended uses. Because the review page displays the real destination before anyone continues, you can show a group how an alarming-looking URL actually behaves without exposing anyone to real risk. Tell the recipients afterwards that it was a demonstration so the lesson lands as education rather than as a trick.

Question 5

Does the recipient need to trust me for this to be safe?

Accepted Answer

Trust helps the joke land, but safety does not depend on it. The review page shows the real destination domain before anything continues, so even a stranger can verify where the link goes. That is the difference between a prank and a trick: the destination is never hidden.

Question 6

Can I use it more than once with the same group?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as long as you generate a fresh link each time. Because every code expires within 24 hours, an old link stops working anyway. Regulars will start recognising the style, which is usually the moment the prank becomes a running joke rather than a surprise.

Question 7

What should I avoid wrapping in a prank link?

Accepted Answer

Anything you would not show a stranger: login pages, payment forms, adult content, or downloads. The tool is for destinations that are already safe and public. If the destination would embarrass you or the recipient in front of a colleague, pick something else.

Question 8

How is this different from a normal link shortener?

Accepted Answer

A shortener tries to disappear: fewer characters, no context, no preview. This tool does the opposite. The link grows, looks alarming, and always stops at a review page that names the destination domain. If your goal is to hide a destination, this is the wrong tool; if your goal is to make people look twice, it is the right one.

Question 9

Does generating a link cost anything?

Accepted Answer

No. Generating links is free and needs no account. The site is funded by on-site advertising on its content pages, and the generator itself never asks for payment details at any point.

Question 10

Can I delete a link I created?

Accepted Answer

There is no creator account, so there is nothing to log into. Links expire on their own within 24 hours. If a specific link must be removed sooner, report it through the contact page with the full URL and it will be disabled.

Question 11

Why does the preview page show a countdown?

Accepted Answer

The five-second pause exists so the recipient actually reads the destination instead of clicking through on reflex. It is a small delay with a clear purpose: turn an automatic click into a conscious decision.

Question 12

Can I generate a link on my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The generator and the review page work in a mobile browser exactly as they do on desktop, with no app or extension needed. Copy the destination, generate the link, and share it from the same device.

Question 13

What happens if I paste text instead of a URL?

Accepted Answer

The generator rejects it and asks for a full address starting with http or https. Usernames, profile handles, and pasted page source are not accepted, because the tool can only wrap a real destination.
